Evaluation System

A well-planned system of continuous and comprehensive evaluation for classes I to V in primary schools of the state have been worked out. This exercise was intended to promote necessary environment in the classrooms leading to improvement of process related task in the classroom and homework, remedial teaching based on feedback from monthly tests with periodic assessment of student’s achievement. According to our policy, evaluation is to be carried out not only in cognitive areas but also in non-cognitive domains. It has been viewed as an exercise to ensure eventually an all-round development of the personality of the child.The parents and community have also been involved in the evaluation

   

process. This scheme has been introduced in all schools of UP. No detention policy is adhered to classes I & II Monthly tests are conducted for the classes III-V and evaluation is made on the basis of marks obtained. Remedial Classes are held to provide extra academic inputs. Final Examination for Class V is held at district level.

The monthly and final tests are conducted for students of Class VI-VIII. The annual public examination is conducted at regional level for students of class VIII only.
To access all around development of child the evaluation exercises given at the end of each lesson consists of exercises and tools for evaluating child's knowledge, understanding and application of knowledge all the exercises are objective type.

For primary schools a system of continuos and comprehensive pupil's evaluation was developed by the SCERT through its Bureau of Psychology, experts from TSG, NCERT New Delhi a teacher handbook on the scheme of pupil evaluation, formats for keeping each students record and detailed methodology for evaluation have been developed. To enrich the knowledge & skill of evaluation workshops were conducted at SCERT with the help of NCERT experts from time to time.

In Pimary schools of UP, school grading system has been introduced, under this programme there are 3 sessional examination along with half yearly and annual examination. 55% marks has been allotted on students achievement and 45% for infrastructure of schools.
